Tufts-Robertson papers, 1850-1863.

Letters written by John C. Robertson, of Charlestown, Mass., to his wife Sarah during the Civil War, 1861-63. Robertson served in the 11th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry and describes the first and second Battles of Bull Run, Battle of Malvern Hill, and camp life, including dysentery among the troops. Collection also includes letters received by George F. Tufts of Charlestown, Mass., while traveling in the U.S. in 1850 and 1862, from his father James F. and mother Hannah Tufts, describing daily events in Charlestown.
